IJSD Executive Director Peter A. Tinsley to present at UNDP Police Reform Programme conference in Dhaka Bangladesh.

Peter A. Tinsley, Executive Director will present at the UNDP Police Reform Programme (PRP a long-term and comprehensive capacity building initiative to improve human security) Conference to be conducted July 18-20, 2011 in Dhaka Bangladesh.  Conference participants, approximately sixty selected police and government personnel will develop reform strategies in four identified themes, being organizational reform, investigation of serious crimes, responding to human trafficking and other emerging crimes and community policing.  The aim of this three day conference is to stimulate discussion by police and government officials in the reform process and in particular to:

·   enable sharing of experiences of police reform;

·   develop a shared analysis of thematic areas of discussion,  identify good practices and lessons learned from various  experiences of reform, especially in organizational and legislative reform and sustainability of police reform initiatives;

·   facilitate networking and coordination between role-players in police reform programs; and

·   identify future research needs and potential interventions in the field of police reform.
